Professor Anshuman Bhakri:
Anshuman Bhakri is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Indian School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Boston College and an M.A. in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. His research focuses on understanding firm behaviour in electricity and renewable energy markets, with the aim of informing market design and policy interventions. He combines theoretical and empirical approaches to study how contracts, auctions, and market structures influence firm decisions.
Research Interests: Empirical Industrial Organization, Energy Economics, Applied Microeconomics

Roles and Responsibilities:
You will:
- Assist in the ongoing research work, including extracting, cleaning, and summarizing data for markets (with a focus on electricity markets).
- Work primarily with Python (preferred) or R for data-related tasks.
- Conduct spatial analysis.
- Review and analyse regulations and public policies in electricity and other markets.
- Conduct literature surveys and summarize key findings.
- Engage in discussions on your own research ideas related to markets that have the potential to be developed into future academic papers.
- Carry out analytical modeling and statistical analysis from the perspective of an industrial organization economist.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong academic background in any of Economics/Computer Science/Statistics/Mathematics/Engineering with demonstrated analytical and communication skills.
- Strong interest in markets, preferably electricity markets, with an inclination toward questions of market design, procurement, and regulation.
- Good knowledge of Python (preferred) or R for data processing, visualization, and analysis.
- Familiarity with spatial analysis (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret policy documents and regulations, and connect them to economic theory and industrial organization.
- The candidate must have high standards in terms of quality of work, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and absolute commitment to task completion.
- Ability to incorporate intellectual inputs from multiple disciplines and to work independently.
- Strong professional ethic including attention to detail, commitment to task completion under aggressive deadlines, and ability to multitask.
